David Wamsley (he/him/his) obtained his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2014 from ATS/a Graduate Division of Ashland University. He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervision designation in the state of Ohio. David has experience working with children and adolescents, families, LGBTQIA individuals and families, geriatrics, and those who are providers in helping professions. He has worked in a variety of settings including schools/universities, home-based services, and community mental health agencies. His areas of treatment experiences include that of Autism, ADHD, child and adult anxiety and depression, grief, stress and trauma, life adjustments, and LGBTQIA-related issues, especially conversion therapy recovery. He has specialized training in stress and trauma-informed care, child and adult play therapy, intersex and transgender treatment, and telemental health delivery of services. David prioritizes a whole-person (body, mind, relationships) and client-centered (positive regard, empathy, genuine support) approach to treatment and utilizes evidenced-based Play Therapy techniques and interventions, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (regulating emotions, mindfulness, and building resiliency), Solution-Focused Therapy (client empowerment, problem-solving, and goal accomplishment), and Narrative Therapy (client values, client skills, and rewriting your story). David enjoys using creative and interactive interventions with all ages and strives to be a non-anxious presence while encouraging clients to discover their story, develop effective life coping skills, and meeting their therapy goals.
