Emerson (he/him/his) completed his undergraduate degree in Human Development & Family Studies with a concentration in Case Management and a minor in Gerontology from Kent State University in 2012 and then went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Social Work from Youngstown State University in 2018. He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Ohio.

Emerson has worked in the community mental health setting as both a case manager and a therapist in the past. He also has experience working as a Clinical Social Worker in the Primary Care/Hospital setting. Emerson enjoys working with ages ranging from about 15 to 100 and beyond. As a trans man, he especially enjoys working with trans identified individuals and anyone on the LGBTQ+ spectrum. He believes that his own lived experience offers a unique insight and ability to build relationships throughout the therapeutic process. He desires to work along with the many other trans-identified/ally professionals to advocate for improved treatment and understanding of trans individuals within the mental health and medical fields. Emerson works from a strengths based perspective and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and solution focused approaches.
